Harvey G. Turner, 87, of Davenport, FL, passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at Winter Haven Hospital in Winter Haven, FL. He was born April 20, 1936 in Galesburg, IL, the son of R. Glenn and Frances (Allen) Turner.
Harvey graduated from ROWVA High School in Oneida, IL. He served in the U.S. Army for two years then in the Army Reserves for another six years. He worked for Alexander Lumber Company, starting his career at the lumber yard in Oneida, IL. He moved to Compton, IL in 1958 and managed that yard until 1971, when he became manager of the Shabbona, IL yard where he stayed until his retirement in 2001. Harvey was a member of the Spring Valley Boat Club and enjoyed traveling the United States in his RV.
Harvey is survived by his sons, Danny (Kelly) , David (Amy), Doug (Sheri), Scott (Darla), step-children Kathy and Chuck; grandchildren, Jeremy, Danielle, Tyler, Alexandria, Olivia, Emma, Isabella, Adrian, and Andrew ; great-grandchildren (10); brother Bill (Debbie) Turner of Oneida, IL; and a sister, Rebecca (Joe) Stark of St. Joseph, IL.
In addition to his parents, Harvey is preceded in death by his wife, Laura Mulligan Turner; and a sister, Barbara Hepner.
Cremation care has been provided by the Jacobson-Torman Funeral Home, Shabbona. A memorial service will be held at a later date. He will be laid to rest with his wife Laura in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Sandwich at a later date
