Joan Maxine Horton
Born: November 20, 1933 in Lincoln, CO
Died: June 13, 2025 in Bayfield, CO
Joan was born November 20, 1933 to Edward Walter Collins and Helen Johnston Collins. She grew up in Rochelle, Il and graduated high school there. She moved to DeKalb, IL at 18 years old. She married Gerald Edward Horton at the Four Square Gospel Church in Rochelle on June 18, 1955. She worked at DeKalb Agriculture Research and later worked at Scorburgs Furniture. Joan was also a food care coordinator with Meals on Wheels.
Joan and Gerald moved to Bayfield, CO in April of 2015.
The most important thing to Joan was her faith and family. Joan was an active member of the Four Square Gospel Church in DeKalb and the Pine Valley Church in Bayfield.
She is survived by her children: Suzanne Leveck-Collins and Ronald (Marian) Horton, Siblings: William Collins, Karen Marshall and Linda Sliger:7 grandchildren: 12 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Gerald Edward Horton: Sisters: Donna Abbott, Patricia Brayton.
A funeral Service will be held Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at 11 AM, at Pine Valley Church, Bayfield. Burial will follow at Pine River Cemetery.
