MY DEAR J.T WHEN I GOT THE NEWS THAT EARLY MORNING MY HEART STOPPED. I FELT LIKE MY BIG BROTHER HAD LEFT ME FOREVER. THAT MORNING WAS ONE OF THE HARDEST I HAVE HAD TO DEAL WITH. I THINK OF YOU EVERDAY, AND EVERY NIGHT JUST HOPING THAT THIS IS NOT TRUE. IT IS JUST SO HARD FOR ME AND I DON'T THINK ANYONE WILL EVER KNOW HOW HARD. WE WOULD GET TOGETHER YOU AND I AND JUST TALK FOR HOURS UPON HOURS ABOUT ANY AND EVERYTHING. I LOVE YOU MAN. I FEEL LIKE A PART OF MY HEART IS MISSING NOW THAT YOU ARE GONE. WHAT IS A GIRL TO DO? I PRAY EVERYDAY THAT YOU ARE WITH GRANNY AND AUNT SHARON, TIMOTHY AND BRIAN JUST WAITING ON THE REST OF YOUR FAMILY TO ONE DAY BE BY YOUR SIDE AGAIN. TO THE REST OF MY FAMILY FROM THE DEPTHS OF MY HEART I LOVE ALL OF YOU AND AS YOU GUYS ALREADY KNOW OUR FAMILY IS A STRONG FAMILY BUT THINGS LIKE THIS CHALLENGE THE STRENGTH TO STAND TOGEHTER, BE TOGETHER, AND BELIEVE TOGETHER AS A WHOLE. WE PRAY EVERYDAY THAT GOD WILL CARRY US ALL. TO MY AUNT PAT YOU WILL NEVER KNOW HOW MY YOU AND YOUR COURAGE JUST TO GET UP EVERYDAY MEANS TO ME. I KNOW YOU HAVE YOUR BAD DAYS BUT THE WOMAN THAT GOD HAS MADE YOU NO ONE CAN EVER TAKE THAT FROM YOU. ONCE AGAIN TO MY FAMILY GOD BLESS YOU AND I LOVE YOU ALL. J.T. I AM NOT DONE WITH YOU YET MAN. I WILL SEE YOU AGAIN ONE DAY BIG BROTHER SO UNTIL THEN PLEASE WATCH OVER US ALL AND PLEASE J.T HELP ME TO GET THROUGH THESE DIFFICULT DAYS. I LOVE YOU MAN ALWAYS AND FOREVER BIG BRO. AND TO EVERYONE THAT HAS SOAID SO MANY KIND WORDS ABOUT JOSH, THANK YOU AND MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL. YOU WILL NEVER KNOW HOW MUCH IT MEANS TO US ALL.

Dear Thompson family,
Josh was a great friend during my childhood. He had an infectious smile and great heart. My thoughts and prayers are with you!

Pat and family,

Here are some of my fondest memories with and about Josh. My prayers are with you and the family.

Donlin Court

Our Idea of Fun:
J-rock, Craig, and myself would dive head first down the stairs at the house on Donlin while trying to catch a football. Josh and Chris would take pillows and swing them at us as we caught the football and we landed onto a mattress. One point if you held onto the football.

Who can forget the Nintendo Wars:
Mike Tyson. 007-373-5963
Tecmo Bowl
Double Dribble—Bird for 3
Zelda
Kid Icarus

The Sycamore Community Center: Hours upon hours we played, we battled, we made friends we made enemies. We learned how to compete in life.

Sycamore HS football: The wins were few and far between, but the best athlete on the field was JT…always. I wanted to catch, defend, and run as fast as JT, we all know he was a natural talent, because the boy never set foot in a weight room

Spartan basketball
A fierce competitor who was a team player: Thomas goes for 60 points in a game… again, JT has a break away lay-up, pulls up short and turns around and flips the ball out to Andy for uncontested 3.

The story the pastor told Josh about his jewelry at Timmy’s funeral

JT: Every morning I laid my necklaces on the bathroom sink, and every morning Timmy would come in and take the necklace and run and hide.

Pastor: JT, but every night you still put the necklace in the same spot for Timmy to take in the morning. Didn’t you?

JT: yes I did.

The girls—who didn’t love JT? I soon found that out, in HS I just followed him around, hoping that he couldn’t handle them all, I was wrong. Valuable lesson: If you want something, make it happen yourself

Thanks for being an great “older brother” JT.

To Josh's family,
After attending Josh's funeral, seeing faces I haven't seen in years--my mind has been flooded with so many memories. I'll remember Josh's waddle down the hallways, his giggle, how I could always HEAR his car coming before I could see it (and I still don't like rap music), the hours a week we all spent at his locker, how he drove us EVERYWHERE, and his ridiculous dance after scoring touchdowns.

I guess there were and are so many reasons to love Josh--and so many people did.

I am glad our paths crossed, only for a couple years and long ago...but the memories linger still.

You will all be in my prayers.

To Pat,craig,chris,jonathon,veronica and family

I have learned so many things about all of you throughout the past 11 years of knowing josh. I know that you are a strong family and even strong families struggle at times like this. Josh was very supportive and comforting when I lost my fiance Branden and I will never forget the great times I spent with him.. Being Meg's cousin I spent a lot of time with him and the kids and I promise to always make sure Jus, Jack Jack, and LuLu always know what a wonderful father they have and always remind them that he is watching over them and taking care of them. josh was someone that I always felt comfortable around and someone who was always willing to listen to all the drama happening in my life throughout my teens all the way up. He was truly one of a kind and will be missed everyday! Please get ahold of me if any of you need anything!

I wrote this poem a few months ago and I think Josh would want to say this to his childen now...

AFTER I'M GONE;
TO MY BEAUTIFUL CHILDREN:

YOU WERE MY LIFE AND MY HEART

I WOULDN'T TRADE EVEN THE SMALLEST PART

OF THE TIME THAT WE HAD

PLEASE DON'T REMEMBER THE TIMES I MADE YOU MAD

REMEMBER THE TIMES I MADE YOU LAUGH

WHEN MINUTES BEFORE YOU WERE SAD

I'LL TRY SO HARD TO STAY CLOSE TO YOU

THOUGH YOU CAN'T SEE MY FACE ANYMORE...MY SPIRIT WILL HAVE TO DO

I'LL MISS YOU SO MUCH

MORE THAN YOU COULD EVER KNOW

I'LL MISS YOUR HUGS, KISSES, AND TOUCH

BUT PLEASE BE BRAVE AND DRY THOSE TEARS

AFTER ALL, WE HAD SOME WONDERFUL YEARS

I'LL BE NUDGING YOU, HELPING YOU

AND WATCHING YOU

WITH EACH STEP THAT YOU TAKE ANEW

MY BIGGEST HOPE AFTER I'M GONE

IS THAT TIME THERE PASSES SO FAST

IT WON'T SEEM LIKE LONG

BEFORE I GET TO SEE YOUR BEAUTIFUL FACES ONCE MORE

BEING WITHOUT ONE ANOTHER WILL HURT TO THE CORE

BUT MY TIME ON EARTH IS THRU

THERE'S NOTHING WE CAN DO

IT WASN'T A CHOICE I MADE TO LEAVE

BUT FOR MY HELP, HEAVEN WAS IN NEED

I WISH I HADN'T LEFT SO SOON

AND I KNOW THAT YOU DO TOO, BUT LISTEN CLOSE AND NEVER DOUBT...

EVEN IF WHAT YOU HEAR IS A WHISPER

AND NOT A SHOUT...

I'M HERE, I LOVE YOU, MY SPIRIT

WILL LEAVE YOU NEVER...

OUR SOULS ARE JOINED FOREVER!

LOVE,
DADDY

To V, Craig, Jonathan & Family: May God Bless You All!

O Lord, I am torn up with grief.
I know you are there, but I cannot see past
my sorrow and tears.
Be with me, Lord, and do not take
my unhappiness to heart.
Rather, work within me to guide me through
these dark days
and bring your light to my life,
so that I may see your goodness, even in my mourning.

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.
