KATHRYN KECK Obituary

Kathryn M. 'Kate' Keck, 92, of Morris, Ill., passed away Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2009, at Morris Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
Born July 7, 1917, in Verona, she was the daughter of Malachi and Margaret (Eich) Walsh. She graduated from Morris High School with the Class of 1935. Later, she attended Rosary College in Chicago and Gallagher Business School in Kankakee. For several years she was employed at Morris Grain Elevator. On Aug. 26, 1939, she married Harold "Sonny" Keck at the Immaculate Conception Rectory in Morris.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Altar Rosary Society, a former choir member, a leader of 4-H Club and Girl Scouts, and was an election judge.
She enjoyed gardening, knitting and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by three children, Patricia (Tom) Knudsen of Bloomington, John "Jack" (Kathy) Keck of DeKalb and Joseph James (Pat) Keck of Hutchinson, Kan.; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; and a special cousin, Mary Brockman of Morris.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Harold, on July 29, 1999; and a brother, Pat Walsh.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 21, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 516 E. Jackson St., Morris, with Fr. Richard Smith officiating. Interment will be at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Morris. Visitation will be held from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 20, at Fruland Funeral Home, 121 W. Jefferson St., Morris, and from 9-10 a.m. Monday at the church.
Memorials can be given to the Immaculate Conception Church Building Fund.
