Leah Hallaron Obituary

Leah Jeanne Hallaron
Born: November 20, 1941
Died: October 23, 2025
Leah Jeanne (Jeanne) Hallaron, a lifelong resident of DeKalb, Illinois, passed away peacefully on 23 October 2025, in the compassionate care of hospice in DeKalb. She was 83 years old. Jeanne was born to the late Stanley Lewis and Leah Winifred (Heck) Hallaron on 20 November 1941.
Jeanne was a DeKalb High School graduate and attended Northern Illinois University. She retired from Northern Illinois University after a long and fulfilling career of nearly 40 years. Jeanne was a lifelong attendee and member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in DeKalb.
She was preceded in death by her brother Stanley G. "Jerry" Hallaron and his wife, Joan. Jeanne is survived by brothers John W. Hallaron and wife Patricia, Sandwich, IL, and Jay L. Hallaron and wife Jean, Gallatin, TN.
She was a cherished aunt to her nieces and nephews, including:
• Elizabeth M. Hallaron, DeKalb, IL
• Kenneth G. Hallaron, DeKalb, IL
• Matthew T. Hallaron and wife Amy, Schaumburg, IL, and their daughters Shira and Ariana
• Scott L. Hallaron and wife Becky, Rochester, IL, and their son Maxwell
• Todd M. Hallaron and wife Jennifer, DeKalb, IL, and their children Noah, McKenzie, Madison, and Melanie
• Sean G. Hallaron and wife Bailey, Denver, CO
• Molly J. (Hallaron) Dejanovich and husband Bryan, Hendersonville, TN and their children Connor and Ella
Known affectionately as "Aunt Jeanne," she was a loving and giving presence in the lives of her extended family. Her selflessness and kindness were constants, and she found joy in the simple things in life - especially in her hobbies of knitting, crocheting and ceramics. Aunt Jeanne often donated handmade hats and booties for newborns at Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital, a testament to her generous spirit and care for others. Throughout her life she had a fondness for dogs. Her dogs over the years have meant the world to her from her first Corgi named Corky to her last Brittany named Geena, and all in between.
Jeanne will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew her.
Visitation will be held November 1, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Finch Funeral Home and Crematorium, 310 Oak Street, DeKalb, IL, with Jeanne's funeral to follow at 2:00pm at the funeral home. Interment will be at Fairview Park Cemetery immediately following the service.
Donations in her name can be made to the First Congregational United Church of Christ in DeKalb, IL, or to Tails Humane Society, DeKalb, IL. Arrangements were entrusted to Finch Funeral Home 310 Oak St. DeKalb, IL 60115 815-758-3841.
