LeVON HINKLE JOHNSON Obituary

GENOA – LeVon Adele "Bonnie" Hinkle Johnson, 89, formerly of Genoa and Sycamore, Ill., died Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013, at Emeritus Senior Living Community in Rockford.
Born May 9, 1924, in Dubuque, Iowa, the daughter of Russell and Florence (Mueller) Kline, Bonnie was married to Wilfred Hinkle with whom she spent many happy years farming in the Kirkland area and raising their family of five. They later moved to Genoa.
Bonnie met Merton Johnson, the second love of her life through the DeKalb County Hospice bereavement group after they had both lost their spouses. They married and Bonnie moved to Sycamore. Bonnie and Mert loved to dance and traveled extensively to participate in dances, particularly those that evoked the Big Band era.
She was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Kirkland since 1955 and was very involved in the church's women's groups.
Bonnie is survived by five children, Jane Hinkle of Rockford, Richard Hinkle of Genoa, Ronald (Carol) Hinkle of Barrington, Jeffrey (Janis) Hinkle of Sycamore and Jerry (Michelle) Hinkle of Sterling; nine grandchildren, Trisha of Wimbledon of England, Grant and Madeline Hinkle of Barrington, Becki Burke of Sycamore, Aaron DeDobbelaere of Grays Lake, and Keely, Mikkayla, Rhylee and Caleb Hinkle of Sterling; several great-grandchildren; one brother, Douglas (Margie) Kline of Pennsylvania; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wilfred Hinkle; husband, Merton Johnson; two brothers, Russell and Joseph; and three sisters, Jane, Sally and Gayle.
Her memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 12, at First Lutheran Church, 510 W. South St., Kirkland, with the Rev. Carl Rasmussen officiating. A time for fellowship will follow the memorial service at the church.
Memorials can be made to Kirkland First Lutheran Church, DeKalb County Hospice and Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) World Hunger.
