Louis "Lou" Sulaver
Born: January 24, 1939
Died: February 6, 2025
Louis "Lou" Sulaver, 86, of DeKalb, Illinois, died peacefully at home on February 6, 2025.
He was born January 24, 1939 in DeKalb, Illinois, the son of Mitar and Marie (Brunnhuber) Sulaver.
He finished his famous High School Career at DeKalb High School in 1958. He attended and played one year of football at NIU. He had 2 years of active service in the Army.
Lou was always known for being a hard worker. He had many jobs during his life. In his younger years he caddied at the DeKalb Country Club, worked for the DeKalb Ag, and delivered pizza for Pizza Villa.
After serving in the Army, he worked at Barber-Greene for a few years, but Lou was known for his many years of carpentry work. Once he retired from carpentry he assisted his son-in-law, Don, with tile installation.
He loved sports, especially the Chicago Bears and Cubs. By far his greatest joy was his family and watching them grow!! He truly loved his family!!
He is survived by his wife of 60 years Judy (Wisted) Sulaver of DeKalb; his three children Bret (Kari) Sulaver of Sycamore, Julain (Don) Maki of DeKalb, and Greg (Rebecca) Sulaver of Batavia; his six grandchildren, Riley (Jim) Krausen of St. Charles, Ashlynn Maki of DeKalb, Evan Maki of DeKalb, Ty (Rachael Rapp) Sulaver of Sycamore, Parker Sulaver of Batavia, and Reagan Sulaver of Batavia; his three great grandchildren Avaline and Allina (Maki family), and Elle Krausen of St. Charles. He is also survived by his brother, Milan Sulaver of DeKalb.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Millie and Joan Sulaver.
Visitation will be from 3 p.m.-7 p.m. Friday February 14, 2025 at the Anderson Funeral Home in DeKalb.The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 15, 2025 at the Anderson Funeral Home in DeKalb. Burial will follow at Fairview Park Cemetery in DeKalb with Military Honors by the DeKalb American Legion.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to the Lou Sulaver Memorial Fund, addressed to the Sulaver Family in care of Anderson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 605, 2011 South Fourth Street, DeKalb, IL 60115

Uncle Lou had a special place in my life growing up. He took me to my first college football game in 1963. He took me to Bob-Joe speedway for my first time. He traveled to NH twice to see me play. He was a big fan, supporting my and my brothers' athletics.
