Nicholas William Cummings, 26, of Sycamore, died on November 15, 2024.
He was born on February 11, 1998, the son of Oliver and Corenna (Dautlick) Cummings.
He attended Dekalb Public Schools through 6th grade and then St. John's Northwestern Military Academy for 7th to 12th grade.
Nick graduated from St. John's Northwestern Military Academy in May 2016.
Nick attended Alma College in Michigan.
Nick, a beloved son, brother, friend, and colleague, was known for his unwavering kindness, infectious sense of humor, and boundless passion for life. He leaves behind a legacy of joy, love, and music that will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Nick was a valued member of the team at 2G Exteriors, where he worked as a claims specialist. He was dedicated to his work and always willing to lend a helping hand to colleagues and clients alike. His professional demeanor was matched only by his genuine care for the people around him.
Outside of his work, Nick was a man of many talents and interests. He had a true love for music, playing various instruments, including guitar, piano, bagpipes, and drums. Whether he was performing for friends or simply enjoying the rhythm of a song, music was a constant companion throughout his life. Nick was also an avid motorcycle rider, becoming part of the Dekalb Pistons in October of 2022, embracing the freedom of the open road, and his love for adventure was only surpassed by his devotion to spending time with family and friends. He cherished every moment with those he held dear, whether in lively conversation or simply sharing a quiet evening.
An active community member, Nick served on the OBAA board for St. John's Northwestern Military Academy, where he worked to support the growth and development of future leaders. His commitment to service extended far beyond his professional life, and he believed in the power of giving back to those in need.
Nick's bright spirit, generous heart, and ever-present smile will be missed by his family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him. He was preceded in death by his father, Oliver William Cummings. He is survived by his mother, Corenna, sister, Lyra Cummings, and a wide circle of friends who loved him like family.
Survivors include his mother Corenna Craig Cummings, sister Valyra Craig Cummings, extended family and his loving companion, Lindsey Obermiller.
He was preceded in death by his father Oliver William Cummings.
His visitation will be on Friday, November 22nd, from 4:00-8:00 PM at the Butala Funeral Home, 1405 DeKalb Ave., Sycamore, IL.
A private service will be held for his family and friends on Saturday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made out for the family in care of the Butala Funeral Home of Sycamore, IL.
