Raymond P. Zoberis Sr., 93, of DeKalb formerly of Chicago died Monday, October 10, 2016 at Willow Crest Nursing Pavilion in Sandwich, IL. He was born April 22, 1923 in Chicago and was the son of Peter and Barbara (Shepard) Zoberis.
He was married to the late Jeanne T. Bergman. He retired from Chicago Typographical Union after working for the Chicago Sun-Times as a typesetter. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in DeKalb. His hobbies were watching Cubs baseball, crossword puzzles, stamp collecting and gardening.
He was the loving father of Raymond (Donna) Zoberis Jr., and David (Gail) Zoberis Sr. He was also the loved grandfather of Daniel, David Jr., Cassandra and Sarah Zoberis, Joshua, Rebecca and Jenna Zoberis, Korrylee and Jessie Wirtes. The great grandfather of Leah, Charlotte, Jacob, Joseph, Lillian, Jonathan, Mary-Clare, and Colton. Brother, Walter Zoberis; and sister, Barbara Lipinski; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jeanne; sons, Richard Zoberis and Ronald Zoberis; and brother, Bruno Zoberis.
Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 10:30am at St. Mary Catholic Church DeKalb with Father Dean Russell officiating. Burial will be at St. Casimir Catholic Cemetery in Chicago on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 1:00pm. Visitation will be held Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 9:30am until the time of service at the church.
Memorials may be made to the family to be established at a later date.
