Died: Oct. 25, 2014

Ruby L."Cookie" Long, 70, of DeKalb, Illinois, died Saturday, October 25, 2014, at DeKalb County Rehab and Nursing Center.

Ruby was born November 14, 1943, in DeKalb, Illinois the daughter of Robert and Nora (King) Nepean. She married William Donald Long July 7, 1961 in DeKalb.

Ruby was a 1961 graduate of DeKalb High School. She was employed by Brody Sycamore Coats, for over 20 years and later at the Salvation Army in DeKalb for several years. Ruby was a member of DeKalb Women of the Moose; she enjoyed family poker games, playing bingo and going to the casino.

She is survived by her husband, William "Don" Long of Cortland; her daughter, Cindy (James) Clark of Rochelle; her son, William Long of Sycamore; five grandchildren, Brian Clark, Jennifer (Chris) Bigall, Megan Clark, Brett Long, Kendra Long; three sisters, Dorothy West, Gloria Roach, Carol (Chuck) Simpson; one brother, John (Diane) Nepean; several nieces, nephews, cousins; her extended family, Sarah (Shaun) Pomykala and her children, Alexis Stiles and Riley Pomykala.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her sisters, Betty Marbutt, Edith Votaw, Jeanette White, Rosemary Rollins; two brothers, Bobby Nepean and Lonnie Olson.

The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 29, at Anderson Funeral Home, DeKalb, with the Rev. Robert Vaughn of Malta Congregational Church officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Park Cemetery, DeKalb. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 28, at Anderson Funeral Home, DeKalb.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Ruby L. Long Memorial Fund, sent to the Long Family in care of Anderson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 605, 2011 South Fourth Street, DeKalb, IL 60115.
