Ruth L. Wisser, 84, of DeKalb, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at Heritage Woods of DeKalb.
She was born August 24, 1940, in Jackson County, Illinois, the daughter of Rex and Louise Walker. Ruth married Eugene Wisser on April 3, 1960 in DeKalb.
After graduating from Cumberland high school in Illinois she began working for Western Union. She was assigned to work at the Western Union office in DeKalb in 1959 and worked there until it closed in 1971. She later worked at the Jewel bake shop in DeKalb and retired after 22 years of service. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and taught Sunday school and also helped with Bible school. She met Eugene Wisser in the fall of 1959 and were married on April 3rd, 1960 at Immanuel Lutheran church in DeKalb. He preceded her in death on November 18th, 2010. They had a son Steven born on November 26th 1972.
She is survived by her son Steven (Jennifer) and her two granddaughters Katie and Courtney (Jordan); and siblings Betty and Mary; Many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Eugene; Parents Rex and Louise; Siblings Sid, Delmer, Rex, Merle and Judy.
The Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at Anderson Funeral Home in DeKalb. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery in DeKalb.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at Anderson Funeral Home in DeKalb.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Wisser Family in care of Anderson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 605, 2011 South Fourth Street, DeKalb, IL 60115.
