Died: May 20, 2017; in Wisconsin Rapids, WI
Thelma "Jean" Tyda, formerly of Sycamore and Springfield, Illinois passed away at the Strawberry Lane Medical and Rehabilitation Center in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin at 1:40pm on Saturday, May 20, 2017 of natural causes.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent Tyda; a daughter, Peggi Guthrie; her parents, William Rollie Willett, Thelma (Powell) Jones; and step-father, Walter Jones; as well as former husband's , Donald Eugene Williams and Robert Dale Simpson.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 15th at 10:30am at the Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Sycamore, Illinois
Jean was born on September 29, 1930 in Logan, Illinois located in Franklin County to parents, Thelma and William Rollie Willett. They moved to Taylorville, Illinois when she was still an infant and resided there until the death of her father under tragic circumstances when she was 2 years old.
Jean and her mother, Thelma, then moved to Springfield, Illinois where Jean spent the remainder of her childhood and well into her adult years. She attended Dubois Elementary School and Sacred Heart High School.
Later in life, Jean met and married Vincent (Vince) Tyda and they moved to Sycamore and then to Ottawa, Illinois.
Following the death of her husband Vincent in 1999, Jean moved back to Sycamore where she lived until May of 2016. She then moved to Wisconsin Rapids, WI to be near her son and his family until the day of her death.
Jean is survived by her 4 remaining children, Vicki (Jim) Mudd of Springfield, Illinois; Toni (Mark) Gabney of Carol Stream, Illinois; Robert Dale (Lynn) Simpson, Jr. of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin; and Lori Simpson of Lebanon, Tennessee. Also surviving is a stepson, Dan (Susie)Tyda; stepdaughter, Kim Kleinow of Champaign, Illinois; 1 sister, Marilyn (Loren) Dietrich of Atlanta, Georgia; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and 2 nieces; and former son-in-law, Jack Kleinow of Cortland, Illinois.
