Carol J. Veronda

Carol J. Veronda, age 83, of Kankakee, passed away Thursday, May 29, 2025 at Bickford House of Bourbonnais. She was born May 23, 1942 in Herscher, the daughter of Eugene & Perdella Legris Denault. Carol married Nick Veronda on April 25, 1987 at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Kankakee. She was a Registered Nurse and previously served as Director of Nursing at Merkle-Knipprath in Clifton. Carol enjoyed golfing and international travel. She loved entertaining her family. Carol enjoyed music and theatre. Most of all, she loved being a grandma. Carol was a parishioner of St. John Paul II West Campus (formerly known as St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church) in Kankakee. Surviving are her husband, Nick Veronda of Kankakee; one son, Rob Bovard of Idaho; one daughter, Alesia Hartman of Indiana; two sisters, Arlene (Gayle) Kirchner and Vonnie Linneman; two brothers, Joseph Denault and Vernal "Bud" (Helen) Denault; five grandchildren, Josh, Andrew, Abby, Heather, and Daniel; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Carol is preceded in death by her parents; one son, Collin Bovard; one daughter-in-law, Jane Bovard; her first husband, Robert Bovard; six sisters, Angela Alson, Celeste Schoolman, Wanita Denault, Ardelle Ommen, Marilyn Block, and Junetta Bertrand; and one brother, Armel Denault. Visitation will be held 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 6, 2025 at Clancy-Gernon-Hertz Funeral Home in Kankakee. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 7, 2025 at St. John Paul II West Campus in Kankakee. Rev. Matt Pratcher will celebrate the Mass.
