David O. Girard, age 78, of Bradley, IL, passed away on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at Citadel of Bourbonnais. He was born on February 5, 1947, the son of Ollie and Helen (Stillman) Girard. David married Lynn Pederson on May 5, 2006 in Kankakee. Lynn preceded him in death on June 23, 2020. David was a quality control supervisor and pest control for VanDrunen Farms. He was a former member and commodore of the Aroma Park Boat Club. David was a member of the Kankakee Bass Masters who enjoyed fishing and deer hunting. David was a veteran of the United States Army, having served from 1966 to 1968. David was of the Catholic faith. Surviving is one son, Joe (Abby) Girard of Bourbonnais; one daughter, Aimee (Jeffrey) Jones of Bradley; one stepson, Christopher (Ashlee) Ehlers; one stepdaughter, Heather Ehlers, all of the Quad Cities; two sisters, Marsha Dreeke of El Paso, TX, Michelle Lang of Bourbonnais; one sister-in-law, Lois Pederson of Milan, IL; 16 grandchildren, Casey Heimberger (Calvin Mitchell), Tori (Craig) St. Peter, Skylar (Ashley Davis) Kroll, Hailee Hankins, Stephen Girard, Kaitlyn Girard (Jeff Peters), Allison Girard, Kairi Ehlers, Zoe Ehlers, Liara Ehlers, Tayler Shouse, Kaitlyn Shouse, Mason Schnell, Trent Saldivar (McCadyn Earl), Preston Saldivar, and Brady Saldivar; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. David is preceded in death by his wife, Lynn, and his parents. Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorial visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the 12 p.m. memorial service on Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at Schreffler Funeral Homes, Kankakee. Inurnment will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL. Memorials may be made to the family's wishes.
