Rita Benscoter Obituary
10th. She was 91 years old.
Rita was born in Cabery, Illinois on November 8th, 1933, the daughter of Michael and Elsie Fenton. After graduating from Saint Joseph's Seminary, she worked for the phone company as a switchboard operator. She married Gerald Benscoter in Sacramento, California on March 26, 1955. Rita and Gerald were members of Saint Martin of Tours Church and the Moose Lodge.
In addition to her devotion as a wife and mother, Rita enjoyed working around her house and
maintained an immaculate yard that was the envy of the neighborhood.
Rita will be missed deeply by her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald, in 2004. Surviving are her three children, Mike (Jackie) Benscoter, and their daughters Valery (Shane) Ponton and Ashley (Joe) Graham; Pat (Ed) Vincent, and their daughter Mary (Brian) Elliott and son Benjamin; and Steve (Jill) Benscoter, and their children Noah (and wife Nicola) and Seth Benscoter, Austin (and wife Natalie), Caleb, and Juliette Langlinais; and her sisters, Carol Loiselle and Rose Fenton. Additionally, Rita is blessed with seven great grandchildren: Audley Elliott, Ella and Emily Ponton, and Connor, Allison, Ella and Colin Graham. She loved her great grandchildren dearly and each of them brought her great joy.
The family extends their gratitude to the wonderful team at Uplifted Care of Kankakee for their support during Rita's final weeks at home. Memorial contributions may be made to Uplifted Care of Kankakee or the American Heart Association.
