Sharon Curwick Obituary
On a rather ordinary day, December 26, 1957, Kankakee, Illinois, was gifted with an extraordinary soul - Sharon K. Curwick (née Rushing). She made her grand exit on May 10, 2024, at the age of 66, in Port St. Lucie, Florida, leaving behind a legacy of laughter and a treasure trove of "Sharon Stories."
A graduate of Bradley-Bourbonnais High School, Sharon went on to conquer the insurance world one medical claim at a time. With her trusty highlighter as her sword and her sharp wit as her shield, she navigated through the realms of auditing, payment, and customer service, finally hanging up her cape at United Healthcare.
James Curwick, her partner-in-crime for a whopping 48 years, and their three children - Jackie, Jeff, and Kristie-were the centers of her universe. Sharon was the neighborhood's "Kool-Aid Mom," always ready with a snack and a side of sass for anyone who crossed her doorstep.
When she wasn't being the life of the party, you could find her puffing on Marlboro Lites, indulging in retail therapy with her sister, or cooking up a storm. Her kitchen was her stage, and boy, did she know how to put on a show! Her adult kids loved to "Dine and Dash".
Sharon's ensemble cast includes her loving husband, James; her children, Jackie Curwick Hill (Steven), Jeff Ghere (Dawn), and Kristie Curwick Garza (Jose); her siblings, Jack Rushing (Dee), David Rushing (Joann), and Georgia Rushing Conti; her adoring grandkids, Noah, Cayden, Keagan, and Zachary; and her scene-stealing great-grandchild, Alex. She took her final bow ahead of her parents, Jack W. and Nadine Rushing, and her brother-in-law, Bob Conti.
We held a private standing ovation for Sharon at Mound Grove Cemetery in Kankakee. But don't worry, the after-party is an open house! Join us to swap tales and toast to the woman who taught us that life is what you make of it. Save the date: Saturday, July 27th, from 1:00pm to 5:00pm at Tri-Star Estates Clubhouse, 43 E. 5000 N. Road, Bourbonnais. Come share a laugh in her honor-it's what she would have wanted!
