Alfred J. Leonas

EONAS Alfred "Fritz" J. Leonas, age 84, passed away on Sunday Morning Oct. 22, 2006. His sister Helen A. Leonas, age 92, passed away the next day, Monday Morning Oct. 23, 2006. Visitation for both will be held on 10/25/06. Visitation from 3 pm till 8 pm at Jerome Zimny Funeral Home, 16774 Dixie Hwy., Hazel Crest, IL. Entombment will be held for Helen Leonas at Holy Sepulchre Thurs., following the 10 am mass at. St. Anne's Church located directly across from Zimny Funeral Home. Al Leonas will be transported to his home in Boca Raton, FL., the next day. Al served in WW II as a Warrant Officer in the Artillary Div. from 1942 - 1956. He served in Germany and was wounded. He received the Purple Heart following his service in WW II. Al is originally from the Village of E. Hazel Crest, IL. He lived in Long Island, New York after his Honorable Discharge from the Army. He became a partner in the fence business while in N.Y. He moved back to E. Hazel Crest and was offered a position with the Midlothian Courts for many years. Al was a very outgoing person. He was always reaching out to help people in need, by getting them jobs or offering his service of help. His was previouly married to Terry Leonas who passed away about 20 years ago. His children survivors are; Alan, David (Joyce), Chris (Linda), Tina (Jay), Denise (Tony), Michaelena (Richard) and Judy Leonas. Al was fortunate to have 10 beautiful grandchildren.
