Cornelia Schell Obituary

Cornelia J. Schell (nee Johnson), 95, retired longtime Social Studies Teacher and Assistant Principal of Lemont High School; amateur pilot and avid bridge player; longtime member of Elmhurst Country Club; native of Lemont, formerly of Elmhurst; passed away peacefully November 25, 2005. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1932, where she'd been a member of Alpha Chi Omega, going on to earn her MA in Education from Loyola University in 1941. Beloved wife of the late Maurice J. Schell. Loving aunt, great - aunt and cousin of many. Preceding her in death were her parents Edmund J. Johnson and Anastasia L. Johnson of Lemont; her sisters Mary (Leo) Peterson, Helen (William) Birmingham, Lucille (David) Hayes and Anastasia "Anya" (James) Castle, and her brother Edmund Johnson. The family wishes to thank Carol LaBarge for her care and friendship. Memorial service followed by inurnment of remains, Saturday July 1, 10 am at St. James of the Sag Bridge Church, 10600 S. Archer Ave., Lemont, IL 60439, 630-257-7000. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to the church. Arrangements by Cremation Society of Illinois. 773-281-5058
