Elmer M. Dobbels

Elmer M. Dobbels, age 78, a longtime resident of Richton Park, passed away March 3rd. He was the beloved husband of Lorraine, nee Van De Maele. Loving father of Debra [Christopher] McMahon, Denise Schmitz, Dan [Susan] Dobbels and David [Gretchen] Dobbels. Proud cherished grandfather of Meghan, Ryan and Caitlin McMahon, Eric, Gregory and Joseph Dobbels, Makenna Schmitz and Collin Haskins. Dear brother of Betty Johannsen and Marion Groy. He was preceded in death by his sister Mary Lehne and brothers, Raymond, Robert and Rene Dobbels. Elmer was a WW II and Korean War Veteran with a long career in the railroad industry. He deeply loved his grandchildren, gardening, family and enjoyed spending time outdoors. Visitation at Hirsch Lincolnway Chapel, 3501 W. Lincoln Hwy., Matteson, IL. on Monday, March 7, from 3:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral Mass 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 8, at St. Lawrence O'Toole Church, 214th and Governors Highway, Matteson.
