Howard Corbett Obituary

Sergeant Howard N. Corbett Jr., USMC, retired, departed this life on Saturday, November 6, 2004 at Bon Secours Memorial Regional Medical Center. He was born on February 6, 1945 in Chicago, and went to school at Homewood Flossmoor Community High School. He served in the Marine Corps from1965 until December 16, 1974. He leaves behind his wife of thirty-two years, Nancy-Kate Corbett; a daughter, Amber Dawn Corbett of Chicago; and a son, John Howard Corbett of Mechanicsville; a brother, Paul M. Corbett and his wife Shirley; and a niece, Erin Corbett, all of Manteno, Illinois; uncle, Charles R. Corbett Jr. of Newark Delaware. He lived in Atlanta, Georgia for thirty-two years, where he was an elder at Clifton Presbyterian Church, serving God and his fellow man faithfully. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Atlee Chapel Woody Funeral Home 9271 Shady Grove Rd., Mechanicsville, where services will be held Friday at 11:30 a.m. Interment with military honors 1:30p.m. at Amelia Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Heart Association or the United States Marine Corps soldier family relief fund.

Howdie, it's been a long time since those Thanksgiving Dinners in Chicago with Grandpa and Grandma Corbett, cousin Kit, etc. In the last 12 months we lost our mother and you your Dad. I regret that our reunion was initiated by their loss and, now,so soon ended by yours. Peace be with you, and God's comfort to your family.
