Richard A. Flores age 79. Longtime Chicago Heights resident. Thornton High School graduate. U.S. Marine Veteran. Retired from Metra/Illinois Central Railroad, where he had 43 years of service as an Electrician. An avid weightlifter, he was a member of Quality Classic Gym and holder of 27 World Powerlifting Titles and 43 National Powerlifting Titles at 165lbs, in various age classes. Husband for 25 years of Catherine nee Calabrese. Father of Sheryl (Jason) Parrott, David (Jennifer), Richard (Jaimie) and Kevin (Ruby) Flores. Grandfather of 10. Brother of Robert and Arthur Flores, Arlene Ramos, Carol Ramirez, Russell Flores and Virginia Eckel. Beloved uncle and dear friend of many. Resting at Panozzo Bros. Funeral Home, 530 W. 14th St. (U.S. Rt. 30, 3 blks E. of Western Ave), Chicago Heights on Thursday January 11th from 3:00 PM until time of funeral service at 7:30 PM. I was thinking of Rich today and looked him up online. Sad to say this is what i found. Rich was a GREAT MAN.....I used to Train with Rich and his best friend Rich Glumac at Last Rep Gym in Dyer, Indiana. My Condolences go out to Kathy and Rich's family. He will be Missed but Never Forgotten. God Bless you Rich.

I just heard the sad news. A truly kind, soft-spoken friendly man and of course an outstanding champion powerlifter. I will miss him.

My condolences to Rich's family. Met Rich and Cathy at lifting meets. Ran into him also at the Last Rep Gym in Dyer. Always ready with a joke. One of the truly nice guys. He certainly will be missed around the lifting circle.

Who didn't love and admire Rich. Soft-spoken gentleman for sure. I traveled to meets with Rich & Cathy, locally, in the states, and around the world. " Hey Scott! Great to see you! Need help with any meet prep? Spots? ". Most lifters are stressing at this point. Rich would win his class, or get " Best Lifter ". I know how these things go. Things are said about people that could be stretched a bit . . . understood. Really read or listen to what friends and family say about Rich Flores . . .
I live in Arizona now and can't attend. Please give Rich an " attaboy " for me.
