I have so many memories of Alan when I was a young Deputy. To a young impressionable deputy, Alan was one of those guys you automatically respected. You just knew he knew what he was doing. You just tried to watch him and someday...maybe...you might be as good as him. Only guy I ever new to carry a Long Colt...totally cool!! Hard to know my best memory with Alan...but I found out the hard way to get out of the way if that hat ever came off, because someone was about to take a whoopin. Thank you, Alan for the education. The lessons learned from Alan and the other "old guys" still resonate today. Now I'm the old guy and use your examples. My prayers are with your family. Wish I could be there.
