Carol was born in Oak Park, Illinois to David and Melitta Russell on December 14, 1920. She spoke fondly of spending summers with the Imig side of the family in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Carol graduated from the University of Chicago with a Bachelor's degree in Biology. She married Martin T. Cahenzli, Jr. (Marty) on May 13, 1944. She adventured west with Marty and together they ran several successful businesses including Hiland Oil Company and Bloomfield Tire Service. Carol was also a charter member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Farmington. She was a loving wife and devoted mother to her sons and daughter. She worked hard to ensure all five children attended college and graduated with degrees.
Carol Cahenzli was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 56 years.
Carol is survived by four sons and one daughter, Mark (Laura) Cahenzli, Lee Cahenzli, Kurt (Vicki Jackson) Cahenzli, Eric (Stephanie Patterson) Cahenzli, and Lynn (Steve) Clements. She is survived by eight grandchildren, Christianne Cahenzli, Kyle (K'Lee) Cahenzli, Josh Cahenzli, Leah (Larson) Crawford, Alyssa (Marshall) Boyce, Shelby (Garrett) Apodoca, Marty Clements, Alison (Ben) Garduno and eleven great-grandchildren and three on the way, Christina, Jonathan, Chloe, Elijah, Kylee, Karter, Braydain, Anthony, Trenton, Pystal and Alexander.
A memorial service will held on Sunday, May 27, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church, 7455 Foothills Drive, Farmington, New Mexico with Pastor Bror Erickson officiating.
