David Stark Obituary

David Eugene Stark, 53, was born March 20, 1963 to Gene and Alberta Stark in Farmington. By the time he was walking he had developed a love for all animals. At age 9 he had his first pig (named Arnold) that he showed at the County Fair. This began a lifelong career in 4H and FFA. The animals that were shown were pigs, goats, rabbits, chickens, llamas and a dairy cow-but chickens were his favorite. David graduated from Farmington High School in 1981 and married Tenny Lou Dallas in 1983. From this union there were three daughters born - Courtney Stark Mihelich, Danielle Stark and Cheyenne Stark. David got his son he always wanted when Courtney married Josh Mihelich; Courtney and Josh gave him his granddaughter one year ago – Jentri. David was employed for 26 years at San Juan Co. Detention Center, beginning as a guard and retiring as an assistant administrator. David married Jeanne Ann Sweet in 2012. This union brought him his step son and daughter, Brandon Watson and Hollie Watson-Gilstrap. Hollie gave him and Jeanne their grandson Bryton. After his retirement from the Detention Center, David was employed by Gasco Propane Co. He enjoyed delivering propane to his many customers, David had lots of hobbies that made him happy. He was an amateur auctioneer, was active in Poultry shows and the Fair and he loved his church. He is survived by his wife Jeanne; his daughters, Courtney Stark Mihelich (husband Josh -granddaughter Jentri), Danielle Stark, Cheyenne Stark, Hollie Watson Gilstrap (husband Dustin- grandson Bryton) and Brandon Watson; his two sisters, Christy Stark Grossheim and Beckie Stark of Seattle Wash.; and his Mom and Dad. David fought a hard battle with cancer, he never gave up and kept his positive attitude until the very end. We loved him and will miss him dearly. Pallbearers are Billy Huish, Josh Mihelich, Dustin Gilstrap, Brandon Watson, Rodney Neidigh, Curtis Rhames, Bobby Huish and Rafael Castillo. Honorary pallbearers are Carl Rhames and Carl Huish. Services for David will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 10, at the First Assembly of God Church, 805 Saguaro Trail in Farmington, (corner of Pinon & Dustin) with Pastor Chad Germany officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 6917 E. Main St. in Farmington. David's care is entrusted to Brewer, Lee & Larkin Funeral Home, 103 E. Ute St., Farmington, 505-325-8688. Stark family and friends, my heart goes out to all of you for the loss of your son, husband, brother and father, uncle, and friend. I hope that God gives you the peace and comfort that you need to get you through this painful loss. The hope of tomorrow is that you will see him again in Heaven. Time on this earth is so short. It simply puts life in perspective, smile more, laugh more, let go of the negative things that hold you back and keep you from happiness. Live life with joy and compassion. My sincerest condolences, God bless you all! Love Michelle and David Gamblin
