Dorothy Chavez Obituary

Dorothy Chavez, 73, of Fruitland, NM, passed away peacefully with grace at home on Friday, April 13, 2018.
She was preceded in death by her beloved father Taylor Jones, mother Myrona Jones, brothers Thomas Simpson, Jimmy Jones, and nephews Bryan Jones and Eric Jones.
Dorothy is survived by her son, Kevin Chavez of Fruitland, NM, Gerald Jones & wife Tanowa of Farmington, NM and Valerie Lewis of Fruitland, NM, 7 grandchildren - Taylar, Shantel, Shila, Megan, Alisha, Brandon, Aiden and one great granddaughter - Ava. She is also survived by her brothers, Paul Jones, David Jones Sr., Curtis Jones, Herman Jones, Wilson Simpson, and sisters Mary Benally, Annie Deaguero, Virginia Jones, Lily Peshlakai, and Bessie Bunion, in addition to numerous nephews and nieces that she adored.
Dorothy grew up in Bisti, NM, attended Navajo Mission, Aztec and Kirtland Central High schools, and was one of the early New Mexico State University sponsored nursing graduates from San Juan College in Farmington, NM. Dorothy worked for San Juan Regional Medical Center, but was most recently employed at Internal Medicine Associates (James J. Spence, MD) for 32 years, until retiring in 2015. Her favorite times revolved around good company and sharing time with family, friends, and neighbors. She'll be remembered for her boundless energy, her love for laughter, and her ability to make friends wherever she went. Her generous spirit and joy for life brought smiles to all. Dorothy's success in life lives on with all of her family who learned from her how to overcome life's difficulties through faith, hope, and love. She will be greatly missed, but always remembered for her beautiful smile and loving, caring heart. We will all mourn her loss & celebrate her memory.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday April 18, 2018 at First Baptist Church, 121 N Auburn AVE, Farmington, NM 87401. Interment will take place after memorial service at Memory Gardens of Farmington, 6917 E Main ST, Farmington, NM 87401.Dorothy's care is entrusted to Brewer, Lee & Larkin Funeral Home 103 E.
