Earl William Mealer

Earl William Mealer, 87, formerly of Farmington, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012. He was born May 16, 1924, in Dallas, Texas.
Earl flew fighters in the Army Air Corps in World War II. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, five battle stars; the American Theater Ribbon and the Victory Ribbon.
After the war, he graduated from Southern Methodist University with a degree in civil engineering.
In 1957, he went to work for El Paso Natural Gas Company in Farmington. He retired as a Project Engineer in 1983.
He spent his later years in Goodyear, Ariz., as an avid bocce ball player, and was always a staunch Dallas Cowboys football fan.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen.
Earl is survived by sons, Mike and Jere; daughters-in-law, Kathee and Nancy Mealer, and two grandsons, Matthew and Brian.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13, at Bethany Christian Church, 711 E. 30th St. in Farmington.
Graveside services with military honors will follow at Memory Gardens, 6917 E. Main St. in Farmington.
Earl is in the care of Cope Memorial Chapel, 404 W. Arrington St. in Farmington, 505-327-5142.
