Jack Moore Obituary

Jack Roy Moore

Farmington - Jack Roy Moore, 94, of Farmington passed away on Friday, April 2, 2021. He was born in Farmington, NM on May 30, 1926 to Johnnie S and Maudie Elliott Moore. The second son of nine siblings.

After graduating at age 17 from Farmington High School, Jack enlisted in the U.S. Navy and found himself in the South Pacific with the Naval Army Amphibious Forces, against the Japanese during War World II. After being discharged he returned to Farmington. He became a skilled worker in the construction trade. During the oil boom years in the 50's, he worked for Mossman Gladden, building hundreds of homes in Farmington, Aztec and Gallup. Jack then took a position as a Building Inspector with the New Mexico Construction Industries Division, retiring on June 30, 1988 after 30 years of service. Jack was a meticulous hard worker and loved to fish, hunt, dance, play the fiddle and guitar while singing songs. Some of this was done at the local Senior Center.

Jack was preceded in death by his only child Deborah Lu Whitney; parents; brothers, Lynn Moore, Vernon Moore, Marvin Kay Moore; sisters, Fay Bernice Widgren, Willie Clark, Nellie Arlene Bell; brother in law, Gene Widgren and Raymond D Bell.

Jack is survived by brother, Lonnie (Carolyn) Moore; sister, Edna June (Ron Love) Hood; numerous nieces and nephews and very special friend and companion Doloris (Dee) Papin.

Services will be held at a later date.

Jack's care is entrusted to Alternative Choice Funeral and Cremation, 505-325-9611. Those who wish to express their condolences may do so at www.serenityandcompany.com.

Jack was our neighbor across the street. Sometimes Jack and my late Grandmother (Jeanne) would share conversation in passing. I took it upon myself to interact with Jack when visiting home. He told me about riding horse back with his riffle to school when Farmington was nothing but orchards. He shared stories from the time he spent in the Navy and I remember from a young age hearing him play the fiddle and guitar. Jack was a very diligent man- always mowing his lawn and working in the yard. I would wave to him as he strolled by on his walks. I told Jack I considered him to be my adopted Grandpa. He was a very sweet man and no doubt his involvement in the community was what kept him going for many years. May he Rest In Peace. Love you Jack.
