Kathryn Davis Obituary

Kathryn Sue Davis, 67, of Albuquerque, died at home May 28. Kathy had lived with severe COPD for over 17 years but never allowed it to hold her back from living a full life.
Those around her knew her as unique, eccentric, fun-loving and adventurous. Kathy often spoke her mind and never apologized for her opinions! She loved to help the underdog and was never afraid to stand up for what she thought was right. Kathy was adamantly a "blue dog" Democrat and she filled two passports cruising around the world.
She served six years on the New Mexico State Board of Dentistry; eight years on the Rules Committee of New Mexico State Board of Racing and was a member of the New Mexico Horsemen Assn. State Board. In Farmington she served on the Halvorson House Board of Directors and the Better Business Bureau board. She graduated from Farmington High School and the College of Artesia. She was an Albuquerque elementary school teacher, a Farmington property manager, a business owner and, with her husband, raised and raced horses.
She is survived by her husband Jerry Bennett; a son Sherman Padgett; daughter-in-law Mia; grandchildren, Anthony and Sophia of Wichita, Kan.; stepchildren, Bryan and Sloan Bennett, Kelly Thomas; and six step-grandchildren, all of Mt. Vernon, Texas; a sister Julie Davis of Portland, Ore.; nephews, Andrew Carter and David Hughes, both of Denver, Colo.; and a niece Julie Carter of Portland, Ore.; her five great-nieces and nephews, Holly, Curran and Ian Carter. Juliana and Katerina Smith were a big part of her life. Kathryn was born in Dallas, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, former Farmington mayor Floyd G. Davis and Kathryn Davis.
Memorial services will be at later date.

I grew up with Kathy in Farmington and have many fond memories of she and her parents. It has been nice to reconnect with her through Facebook. I celebrate her life and praise God that she is completely healed!
