Larry Frank Gibson, 57, of Farmington, passed away Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012, at his home in Farmington. He was born Aug. 20, 1955, in Farmington, to Frank and Alice (Mauroff) Gibson. He married Rita Roberts on May 28, 1999, in Waterflow.
Larry graduated from Farmington high School in 1973. He worked as an Outside Salesman for Timberline Fasteners. The joys of his life were hunting, fishing and riding his motorcycle. Larry loved to treat the community with a beautiful light display at both, Halloween and Christmas. He was a member of the Farmington Elks Lodge #1747 where he was currently holding the office of 3 Year Trustee. He also served as the Elks Veterans Chairman for the Northeast District and the local Farmington Lodge. He spent special time and emphasis on the Wounded Warriors Rides project as well as the annual Veterans Dinner. Through personal experience, Larry was a staunch supporter of the Blue Star Mothers in supporting other service member's families. He was a true patriot and will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of 13 years, Rita Gibson; parents, Frank and Alicia Gibson; children, Kenneth Frank Gibson (and Alli), Christopher Dell Gibson (and Sheri), Thomas James Sheppard, V, and Alicia Don Sheppard; sisters, Brenda Omanson (and Gary), Donna Aunkst (and James), and Paula Aunkst (and John); lifelong best friend, Kenny Kendrick; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m., today, Sept. 12, at the Farmington Elks Lodge #1747, 801 Municipal Dr. in Farmington, with Pastor Phil Offerle officiating.
Final resting place will be in Greenlawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Kenny Kendrick, Jon Toledo, Terry Rowell, Gary Omanson, Marty Foutz and Matt Flack.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Jason McDonald, John Aunkst, James Aunkst, Billy Roberts, John Henke and Joe Barela.
In lieu of traditional remembrances, memorials may be made in Larry's honor to Wounded Warriors Project through the Farmington Elks Lodge #1747, 801 Municipal Dr., Farmington, NM 87401.
Arrangements are pending with Angel Valley Funeral Home, 2111 W. Apache St., Farmington, NM 87401 505-327-2710. Friends may view and sign the online guest book at www.angelvalleyfuneralhome.net.

your never forgotten was at Tylers grave yesterday for memorial day first time ever I truly had the meaning of the day...I think of you often and Rita and know she hurts like I do not a day nor second passes that we dont think of you two...we miss you both terrible.

Gabby will be forever in my heart. I read somewhere that stars are just openings in heaven to allow the love of our lost ones to pour through and shine down on us to let us know they are happy. If this is true I know Gabby's love will glow nightly in the New Mexico sky for Rita and his entire family. I send my condolences to you all and will remember you in my daily prayers.

I know how it feels time slows and u can feel the time between each second...We will never forget them ... I love you and know Tyler and Larry are in a place that is so unbelievably amazing they hurt no more we can nvr again be scared to find out there gone they will nvr be hurt by anyone be sad be hungry be cold only freedom and happy is what they feel and knowing that makes me smile in between that second .. Moving forward alone without them is what we got to figure out how that will be hard but where strong we will we have no other option and they would want us to not...nights are worse for me but the words I read comforted me as I hope they do u..................
To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Larry was an incredible friend, he always put his friends and customers before himself. I had the privilege of knowing Larry for many years. He will be missed by all the people who's lives he touched.

I remember Larry when we were growing up as a skinny, blonde kid with a great big heart! We are very sad to hear he is not with us any more. There will come a time when we will meet again! Until them may God hold you in the palm of his hand.

Larry you were a wonderful neighbor to my dad, he always enjoyed the chats when he went home on his breaks.
