Robert Hoefer Obituary
Farmington - On November 29, 2020, Robert Sean Hoefer, beloved husband and grandpa, passed away at the age of 49. Robert was born on July 26, 1971 in Fullerton, California to Douglas and Betty (Carden) Hoefer. He lived most of his life in Farmington, New Mexico. After high school, he proudly served nine years in the Navy aboard several submarines as a nuclear reactor operator. He later earned his Bachelor of Science degree from ENMU in Portales in 2012. He met the love of his life, Heather Fernandez, in September 2019 and they were married on September 5, 2020 at the Aztec VFW.
Robert was so very proud of his wife Heather, a 3rd grade teacher, and of becoming a stepdad. He was absolutely enamored with his new granddaughter Rosemary. He was a person of high integrity with a great expectation of others for the same. He had a special concern for the rights of women and children and especially those individuals with Autism and Asperger's. He had a persistence to work hard to finish any job he started and never turned any task away. He was extremely gifted in his knowledge of world history and of many things in general. He prided himself on being a "chef extraordinaire" and was always creating new dishes. However, his greatest joy over the years has been reading and he most likely completed well over 10,000 books. His goal this next year was to finally become a history teacher to pass on his knowledge.
He is survived by his wife, Heather Hoefer, his three stepsons Derrick Fernandez (Alexus Sisneros), Tyler Hartsell (Elizabeth Pinto) and Jeremiah Fernandez (McKenna Johnston), one grandson Sebastian Hartsell, and 1-week old granddaughter, Rosemary Hartsell.
He is also survived by his mother Betty (Hoefer) Ragan, his father Douglas (and Sandy) Hoefer, his sister Sonia (and Mark) Lukow, three nephews, Matthew Lukow, David Lukow, and Steven Lukow (Anastasia Heau), several aunts, uncles, and cousins, many special friends, and Hobbsey, his cat.
Robert desired cremation, and a memorial service is planned for 2021. He would have liked for any donations to be made to GRASP, the Global and Regional Asperger Syndrome Partnership.
