Robin Michelle Christensen

1963 - 2017

Robin Michelle Hunte Christensen, 53, of Farmington, passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2017, with her family and loved ones by her side. She was born Nov. 10, 1963, in Albuquerque, born to James Hunte and Carol Florence Brown Hunte, the eldest of five children.
Robin was proud of growing up in a family of motorcycle riders. She wrote, "When I was about eight years old, my front yard was full of Harleys, and most were 1950's and 1960's choppers. My dad rode a trike with extended forks at the time. Over the years, he had 18 Harleys, two Goldwings and his last was a Honda V Star. I told him I would own a Harley someday. My Harley is a 1972 Ironhead with a rigid frame." Robin loved attending the Four Corners Iron Horse Rally in Ignacio, Colo., with husband, Roy, brother, Ken and her father, James. They always setup a big camp, as camping was another of Robin's huge loves. Every chance she and Roy had, they enjoyed being in the mountains camping. She also loved to sew and treasured the knowledge she gained from sewing with her mother Carol and Grandmother Brown. Many are the sewing projects of quilts, clothing, pillows, stuffed animals, upholstered objects and masterpieces she created and gifted to others over the years with her seven sewing machines. Cooking was a joy, and those who tasted her home and camp cooking agree no one can compare. Tacos, fideo, tomatillo salsa, biker and green chili stew, breakfast burritos and other comfort food made family and friends feel at home. Building relationships was important to Robin, and family members said, "She was a mother and grandmother to everyone."
Robin attended elementary school in Albuquerque before her family moved to Silver City in 1974. She completed high school at Silver High and attended Western New Mexico University for two years. She moved to Farmington in 2000, and married her soul mate, or as she said, "knight in shining armor" on July 20, 2002.
In addition to her parents, Robin was preceded in death by her nephews and God sons, Benjamin and Christopher Carreon. She is survived by her husband, William Roy Christensen; three children, Chad William Yniguez and wife, Melissa, Brandi Rose Collier and husband, Cameron; and Joshua Allen Christensen and wife, Lacie; grandchildren, Sierra and Harley Yniguez and Rayne, Hailey Mae Collier, Hayden Christensen, Dallas William and Odessa Christensen; sisters, Lisa Corbin, Heidi Hunte with Gary Archuleta, Wendy Carreon and husband, Angel; brother, Kenneth Hunte, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family thanks San Juan Regional Cancer Center and Hospice with Basin Home Health for their loving care and support.
A celebration of life service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, May 26 at the Bible Baptist Church, 208 Newman Ave. in Aztec with Pastor Barry Quinn officiating.
