Ronnie Mahaffey Obituary

Ronnie J. Mahaffey, 56, was born into this world on Feb. 26, 1959, and departed this life on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015.
He held his family very close to his big, kind, loving heart. Ronnie J. adored his love, Allison, for 36 years, up or down, in good times or bad, he was always by her side. Ronnie demonstrated daily his love for his children, the apples of his eye, Racheal Rene and Sarah Rachelle; and his sons-in-law, Brandon Lucus, (his words "my son") and Brauck Springer. He loved them very much. "Take care of my girls," he would say. He is also survived by his sister, Holly Crawford, who he absolutely loved and cherished. The ultimate light of his life was his granddaughter, Isyla Ruth Lucus – his little Maggie Moonpie. He now will guard her from above and guide her through her life.
Ronnie J. loved his critters; there are many that will greet him at the Rainbow Bridge. Blue Bear has his best buddy back, and they can now go hunting once again.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his mother and father, Ronnie L. and Nita J. Mahaffey. We know they greeted him with open arms on his journey to the heavens.
God has now given your weary body rest and lovingly welcomed your beautiful soul. It is now bedtime for Bonzo.
A gathering will be held for family and friends at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11, at 22 Road 5127 in Bloomfield, to share endearing stories and memories of Ronnie's life.
Ronnie's care is entrusted to Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home, 103 E. Ute St. in Farmington, 505-325-8688. Those who wish to express their condolences may do so at www.serenityandcompany.com.

God has given Ronnie's weary body the rest he so deserved. I will forever treasure so many endearing memories of having Ronnie as my brother. He was a tremendous source of strength when I needed him the most and knew the right things to say to right a wrong. He and I became brusband and wife, living under the same roof while caring for our father prior to his passing earlier this year. I am eternally grateful for the few months we grew even closer as siblings and as an extended family. You keep talking to me, Ronnie, and I promise to listen. In the meantime, dear brother, we pray for God to help heal our broken hearts.

Allison my friend, my deepest heart felt sympathies go out to you and your family for the loss of Ronnie your dearest loved one at this time, as you are all grieving. Your all in my thoughts and prayers, I just moved back home and just heard of your loss, and it breaks my heart for you, and your family, I can't begin to imagine the emptiness your feeling, but I want you to know if there is anything you need I'm here for you, even if it's only for a shoulder to cry on, or just someone to talk to, I love you, and pray to God our Lord to help you, and your loved ones find strength and peace during this time, and that you all know even in your darkest moments that he is in a better place, and for what ever reason if may have been suffering he will no longer be in pain, and that each and everyone of you know he will always be with you in spirit, and in your hearts. May God be with each, and everyone of you an bless you all until you meet with him again in glory land.

I lost touch with Ronnie after the 9th grade but he has a special place in my memories. He was humble and prudent even at that age. I know, because I tried dragging him into hijinks many a time but he always had the better judgement. He was an absolute gritty competitor on the sports field; playing football so hard he broke his collar bone, churning up the track as the anchor for the relays and dominating inside the key in basketball. May God bless him and his loved ones.
