We grieve with our Marshall community at this time of great loss. Our prayers and thoughys are with Dr. Kopp's family during these days. As an old alumnus my personal contacts were limited but always meaningful and sincere. We are praying for family, students, faculty and staff of MU.

It is with great sadness that today I receive the news of Dr. Kopp's demise. Though many miles away (in Kenya) from Marshall, the news have hit me hard. As I mourn the death of my great University president, I remember the great words of encouragement he whispered to me in May of 2006 and again in 2009 as he heartily shook my hand on those graduation days at the Civic Arena. Though physically you've left us, your spirit and our memory of your good works will leave in us and with us for years to come. May your wife, family, friends and the Marshall University fraternity find strength in God during this difficult time of mourning.

Ellen and I remember an afternoon of watching the Marching Thunder perform for families and friends with the conclusion of band camp. We were surprised by President Kopp and his wife's presence at the event. We were able to have a short conversation with them and knew that he was truly a wonderful university president. We send our sincerest condolences to the family and his wife, Jane. but will always remember that sunny afternoon at Marshall sharing a moment with a university president and his wife.

Thank you for all you did for Marshall. You were the best President that Marshall ever had. You are already sorely missed. We will work hard to carry out your vision. Buddy and Jane Graham
