Victor Angelico Prado
Victor Angelico Prado went to meet his Heavenly Father on December 23, 2020 just in time to celebrate Christmas with his Lord.
Victor was born on May 26, 1940 in Pump Canyon, NM to Isauro and Josephine Prado. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Raymond and Sammy, and nephew Damon.
Victor leaves behind his beloved wife of 62 years, Fidela Herrera Prado, his only love. They were married September 26, 1958 in Aztec, NM. He is survived by his five sons, Rick (Jill) Prado of Las Vegas, NV, Mark Prado of Farmington, Victor Jr. Prado of Farmington, Darrell Prado of Ft Lauderdale, FL, and Randy Prado of Ft. Lauderdale, FL.; 6 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, sister Karla (Jerry) Hall, uncle Benjamin Prado, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Mr. Prado was always ambitious and became a self-employed entrepreneur at an early age beginning as a shoe shiner, promoting himself to newspaper boy, and graduating to manually setting bowling pins. While selling newspapers at the local pool hall, he learned the art of playing pool and became a master pool shark. After serving in the National Guard, Victor began working as a glazier at Garrett Glass in Farmington. After years of working in the glass industry in Farmington, Albuquerque, and Las Vegas, Nevada, Victor and his partner, Lloyd Medina established Farmington Glass. Later, Victor and Fidela became sole proprietors and operated a successful, thriving business. During these years, his sons, Ricky, and Mark became interested in little league baseball. Victor taught his sons to pitch a 6-12 curve ball that was a bane to opposing batters and coaches. According to Victors baseball coach, Lamar Gunn, the man who once organized local Easter egg hunts, Victor was a talented short stop and pitcher.
In later years Victor accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior and taught himself how to play the guitar and composed the lyrics and music for many religious songs. With God's help his singing voice was vastly improved. Victor's lifelong passion was owning 1955 Chevrolet's and then restoring them to their original beauty and luster. This pastime hobby and talent proved very lucrative as 55's were in high demand.
After suffering a life-threatening liver disease, his beloved wife Fidela received a liver transplant in 2008. Upon her hospital release, Victor retired and became her caregiver and devoted his energies to restoring her health. After triple bypass surgery in 2010, Victor slowed down substantially. In the ensuing years Victor and Fidela enjoyed traveling and visiting family.
