William M. Kelt (Bill), 74, of Las Cruces passed away peacefully on June 29, 2021. He was born October 1, 1946 in Tucumcari, NM to William M. Kelt, Sr. and wife Dorothy.

Bill's early childhood consisted of frequent moves throughout the state of New Mexico. With each move, it was like a new and exciting adventure for him where he could make many new friends at each of these destinations. He often spoke of this time in his life with such fond memories. He was a 1964 graduate from Alamogordo High School and then attended NMSU following in the footsteps of both his dad and his grandad Kelt.

His work history began as an office manager and then concrete inspector for the NM State Highway Dept. He joined the NM State Police in Las Cruces, NM in1971 for a period of 10 years. From there, he went to work for Schlumberger in Farmington, NM and retired as a sales engineer after 28 years of service with the company.

Bill met his wife, Connie while working in T. or C., NM. She has always said that it was his great smile that caught her attention. His awesome smile would light up any room and continued to cause Connie's heart to skip a beat or two. They were married in T. or C. in 1968. They have 2 children and 3 grandchildren.

Bill will always be loved and remembered as a great husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. He loved his family, his rock and roll, oldies music, dancing, cars, the great outdoors and playing golf. His life's journey here on earth has come to an end, but we feel comfort knowing that now a new and even better journey for him begins.

Bill was preceded in death by his father, William M. Kelt, Sr.; mother, Dorothy Silver; 2 sisters, Kathy Dierks and Patricia Silver.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Connie; 2 children, Bill Kelt (Lana) and Jill Brimhall (Derek); 3 grandchildren, Ethan Kelt, Logan Kelt and Zia Brimhall; 2 sisters, Jean Rico (Charlie) and Susan Jarzombek (Marvin); 1 brother, John Silver (Shirley).

A celebration of life will be held at Getz Funeral Home on Weds., July 7th at 9:00 am. This will be followed by a burial service at Vista Memory Gardens in T. or C., NM at approximately 11:30 am
