Winona Speaker Obituary

Winona Speaker, 82, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013, surrounded by her family.
Winona Ethelyn Hart was born on Nov. 12, 1931, in Wellington, Colo., to Henry and Ferol (Jones) Hart.
Nona and Jim Speaker were married Nov. 24, 1949. They spent 61 wonderful years together before Jim passed away on Dec. 3, 2010.
Nona spent her life as a homemaker and was a devoted wife and mother. She was very active in PTA groups and was almost always the "Room Mom." Nona had a big heart full of love and was known for her "Nona Hugs," there was always room in her heart for another person to love and "adopt." Winona loved gardening, painting and cooking for her family. She lived her life with enthusiasm, hard work and family was the light of her life.
Winona is survived by siblings June Becker, Alice Johnson, Wayne Hart and sister-in-law Karen (Tom) Minor; children, James E. Speaker, Jr. (Sherry), Randal W. (Alice) Speaker, Ellyn (Art) Bostick, Deena Daggett and Laura Speaker; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband James E. Speaker Sr.; her parents; and twins, Denis and Durie.
A celebration of her life will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 5, at Northside Church of Christ, 401 W 20th St., in Farmington. Chicken and noodles will be served in her honor at the reception.
