Calvin Caper Obituary
BELVIDERE - Calvin Vivian "Peter Pan" Casper, 82, of 162 Eason Lane, died Thursday, March 29, 2018 in his home where he was surrounded by his family.
Mr. Casper was born in Gates County on March 7, 1936, and was the son of the late Arthur Lee and Sally Mary Owens Casper. A retired truck driver, he worked for Allied Van Lines for 39 years, most of that time driving long distance along the east coast. He played and sang country music all his life and enjoyed baseball, hunting, and fishing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Evelyn Casper and Maggie Monds, and by a brother, Elwood Casper.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Lorraine Eason Casper; two daughters, Carolyn LaFleur (Mike) and Connie Riddick (Donald); a son, Steve Casper (Gene); a brother, Vernon "Blue Eyes" Casper; three grandchildren, Damon Winslow (Shannon), Billy Townsend (Maddie), and Jessica Townsend (Boni); and six great-grandchildren, Summer, Faith, James, Riley, Jackson, and Bryar.
Graveside services will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in Up River Cemetery, and will be conducted by The Rev. Stanley Nixon. Friends may join the family Friday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville, and all other times at the residence.
Memorial contributions may be made to Albemarle Home Care and Hospice, 208 Hastings Lane, Elizabeth City, NC 27909.
