Dale Wright Obituary
EDENTON - Dale Arnold Wright, 76, of White Oak Drive, passed away on Sunday, October 7, 2018, in Vidant Chowan Hospital.
Mr. Wright was born in Mogadore, Ohio, on May 2, 1942, and was the son of the late Okie James and Edith Patrick Wright. Serving in the United States Navy for over 21 years before retiring with the rank of Petty Officer First Class, he had served as Commander of American Legion Post 40, Vice Commander of American Legion Post 126, and was a member of the VFW, the Vietnam Veterans of America, the Fleet Reserve Association, and the Pearl Harbor Hawaii Masonic Lodge.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Ward Wright.
Surviving are two daughters, Paula S. Wright, and Stephanie W. Cunningham, both of Hertford; a sister, Gail Wiley of Lake City, FL; six grandchildren, Andrew Jones, Holley Jones, Staff Sgt. Ryan Williams, USMC, Jessica Emminizer, Erica Barnes, and Tracie Hoffler; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and will be conducted by the Rev. Thomas Biggs. Burial with military honors will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Friends may join the family Wednesday from 7 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
