Frances Goodwin Obituary

Tyner resident

Frances Byrum Goodwin, 62, of 134C Cannon's Ferry Road, died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2010 in her home. Mrs. Goodwin was born in Norfolk, Va. and was the daughter of the late George Lee and Shirley Bunch Byrum. She had worked as a cosmetologist, a clerk at Rose's Dept. Store, and had assisted with the family business, Goodwin's Appliance, but most important was her work and the joy she received as a mother and grandmother. A faithful member of Ballard's Bridge Baptist Church and the Tuesday Walker's Group, she was always eager to share with others her love of the Lord. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a grandson, James Richard Privette. Surviving are her daughter, Cristy Goodwin Privette, MD, husband Jonathan, MD, and their children Ashton and Jack of Raleigh; three sons, Dwayne L. Goodwin, wife, Kristie, and their children Jami, Victoria, Weston, and Julia; Kenny W. Goodwin, wife, Evie, and their children, Brooklyn and Kennedy; and Marty Goodwin, wife, Valerie, and their children, Brenna and Alyssa, all of Tyner; and her sister, Carol Byrum Julian and husband, Brad, of Raleigh. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in Ballard's Bridge Baptist Church by the Rev. Ron Parr and Pastor Tracy Smith. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may join the family Friday from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home and Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and all other times at her home. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.millerfhc.com. Miller Funeral Home and Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, is in charge of arrangements.

To Carol,Brad and the Goodwin Family,
Ray and I will continue to pray for the family.
I can only imagine the celebration going on in heaven now that Frances is there and has the peace we won't understand until we can join her.
Frances was such a strong person in her struggles and in her faith. We can rejoice knowing where she is and that the Father has taken her pain away.
Ray and I will keep the family uplifted in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Carol & the entire Byrum/Goodwin family for comfort and strength.
Having had the joy of praying with & for Frances, I know she is with her Lord and Savior in health and anticipation of His return for the rest of His people and that eternal reunion.

O my people, trust in Him at all times. Pour out your heart to Him, for God is our refuge.
~ Psalm 62:8, NLT
