Horace Gregory Obituary


Elizabeth City resident

Horace Lee Gregory, 82, of 210 W. Broad Street, died Sunday, June 12, 2011 in his home. Mr. Gregory was born in Perquimans County and was the son of the late Ernest Lee and Ruby Wilson Gregory. He was a retired automatic transmission specialist and the owner and operator of Gregory's Automatic Transmission Service for over 42 years. He was a member of Blackwell Memorial Baptist Church and the North Carolina Sheriffs' Association. Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Ena Gray Gregory; two daughters, Karen Lynn Gregory and Debra G. Eley; and one granddaughter, Kristina Lynn Eley, all of Elizabeth City. A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Blackwell Memorial Baptist Church by the Rev. Cory Miller. Friends may join the family at the residence. Miller & Van Essendelft, Funeral and Cremation Providers, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Building and Grounds Fund of Blackwell Memorial Baptist Church, 700 North Road Street, Elizabeth City, NC 27909.
