Hubert Ambrose Obituary
ELIZABETH CITY - Hubert Douglas Ambrose, Sr. 77, of 617 Old Hertford Highway, Elizabeth City, NC died Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at Waterbrooke Nursing Home. He was born August 29, 1940 in Pasquotank County to the late Tom Ambrose and Ruth Bundy Ambrose and was the widower of Catherine Ambrose. He was the owner and operator of The Country Store and Country Towing, a member of Parksville Pentecostal Holiness Church and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. The family would like to thank the staffs of Currituck House and Waterbooke for their love and care.
He is survived by four daughters, Carla Thomas and Shelva White (Mike) all of Elizabeth City, NC, Christy May (Tommy) of Kitty Hawk, NC, and Frances Ambrose of Currituck, NC; two sons, Dougie Ambrose, Jr. (Pat) and Tommy Ambrose (Stephanie) all of Elizabeth City, NC; three step-sons, William Key (Kristi) of Currituck, NC, Alan Jernigan of Elizabeth City, NC, and Gary Jernigan (Dawn) of Camden, NC; twenty-five grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by two daughters, Sheilia Key and Norma Ambrose; three sisters, Margaret Halsey, Marian Ambrose, and Faye Garrett; and two brothers, Tom Ambrose, Jr., and Dallas Ambrose.
Funeral services will be Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Twiford Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Stuart Meads and the Rev. Phillip Harden. Burial will follow in New Hollywood Cemetery with military honors rendered by the William Clarence Jackson VFW Post #6060. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and welcomes others to Hubert's home, 617 Old Hertford Highway. Memorial donations may be made to the SPCA of Northeastern NC, 102 Enterprise Dive, Elizabeth City, NC 27906.
