Janie Gregory Obituary

Janie Duncan Gregory, 89, a former resident of Elizabeth City and Wilson, N.C., died Sunday, Jan. 22. 2006, in Elm City, N.C. Mrs. Gregory was born July 27, 1916, in the Grandy community of Currituck County, and was the daughter of the late Ruben Acklin Duncan and Emma Jane Forbes Gregory. She was a graduate of the Moyock High School, a former buyer with Belk's of Elizabeth City, and was employed with W.T. Grants of Elizabeth City and managed the Fabric Shop in Elizabeth City. She also worked at the Old Colony Candle Shop in Wilson, N.C. She was preceded in death by her husband, Garnett Gregory Sr.; her son, William Garnett Gregory Jr.; her sisters, Oreta Hubbard and Louise D. Kyle; and a brother, Thomas W. Duncan. Survivors include her granddaughter, Cheri Gregory Dudley and husband, James, of Elm City, N.C.; and her great-granddaughter, Lisa Renee Dudley. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1.30 p.m. to 2.30 p.m. at Twiford Funeral Home in Elizabeth City, N.C. A graveside funeral service will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Charles Wellons officiating. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be directed to: Friends of Hospice, Nash General Hospital, 2460 Curtis Ellis Drive, Rocky Mount, NC 27804. Twiford Funeral Home, 405 E.
