Joan Frink Obituary
ELIZABETH CITY - Joni left us on Saturday after a short but painful illness. She was surrounded by loved ones and passed peacefully. Joni lived a full and happy life and she had few regrets.
Joni was born in Norfolk Virginia to Estelle and James Aument. She was a Head Cheerleader while attending Granby High where she graduated in 1972. She was also the lead singer in a rock band in her younger days (the Cellophane Butterflies I think).
Joni attended ODU where Miss Vera Lynn introduced her to her husband of 40 years (thanks Vera!). Joni was always adventurous and very brave. She moved with Kerry (to support his job) from Norfolk, to Lynchburg, to Philly, to New Jersey, to Pittsburg, to DC and finally had enough and came home to Weeksville, NC in 1987 where she created her dream home.
Joni and Kerry have no children but raised and loved some amazing pets (Boo boo misses her so much!).
Joni enjoyed travel and took trips to Europe, Seattle, and Hawaii with her husband. She always dreamed of returning to Venice one more time.
Joni's smile would light up a room, she had dimples to die for, and the sparkle in her eyes of joy and humor welcomed everyone.
Joni is survived by her husband (Kerry), three sisters (Marie Ambrose, Sue Collier, and Anne Aument), her brother (David Aument) and amazing nieces and nephews.
There will be a viewing at 1 PM on Sunday July 10, at Twiford Funeral Home in Elizabeth City with a short memorial service to follow.

Kerry and family, I am so sorry to hear about Joni's passing. She was such a joyful person and loved to laugh. We had lots of those when we worked together! She will be missed but not forgotten.
