John Layton Obituary

John Elbert Layton, 48, of the 200 block of Evans-Bass Road, Edenton, N.C., died Tuesday, June 20, 2006, at Chowan Hospital. Mr. Layton was the son of Sallie O. Layton-Hare and the late Raymond H. Layton Sr. and was the stepson of Worth H. Hare Sr. He was a member of Rocky Hock Baptist Church. Mr. Layton also was survived by his three brothers, Raymond H. Layton Jr. and his wife, Tracy, of Edenton, Dennis E. Layton of Ahoskie, N.C., and Brent Layton and his wife, Linda, of Edenton; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Wade Scott Layton. Friends may sign the online register by visiting www.evansfuneralsandcremations.com. A Celebration of Mr. Layton's life will be held today at 11 a.m. in Layton Family Cemetery with the Rev. Bob Young officiating. The family will receive friends at the home of Sallie and Worth Hare Sr., 137 Cowpen Neck Road, Edenton. Evans Funerals and Cremations of Edenton, is serving the Layton family.
