April 21st at the age of 88. Bob was born and raised in Elizabeth City,NC, the only child of Pearl Berry and Asa Parker Midgett. Growing up, he spent summers with family on the island of Wanchese, NC, where he learned to shuck and eat raw oysters, a lifelong delicacy he enjoyed. During a summer break, Bob met Janet King Francis, of Washington, DC, in Kill Devil Hills, NC and they married in 1952. He continued as an active USAF Reservist until 1959.

Bob had a long career in sales and management with Friden Inc., covering the US and abroad. Bob and Jan, and their four children eventually settled in Greensboro, NC, where he established BMI Business Machines in 1974, later becoming BMI Mail Systems. Bob was a member of many business organizations, but was most proud of his 45 years in Summit Rotary Club, where he was a Paul Harris Fellow, Past President, and forged close friendships.
