Robert Sheppard Obituary


Moyock resident

Robert Leon Sheppard, 76, of Moyock, died Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013 at Sentara Barco Nursing Center. Born in Blue Field, W.Va., he was the son of the late James Rex and Clara Louise Peters Sheppard and was the husband of the late Linda Alice Sheppard. Mr. Sheppard is survived by eight children, Rex Sheppard of Clearwater, Fla., Robert Sheppard, Jr. and wife, Danielle, and Kimberly Rishel and husband, J.R., all of Grandy, Richard Clark, Dennis Clark and Sherry Cannady and husband, Steve, all of Taneyville, Mo., Donna Rodgers and husband, Marland, of Stafford, Va., and Chris Clark of Currituck; 21 grandchildren; Danny, Donnie, Rocky, Billy and Ashley Patton, Christina Clark-Spycher, Matt, Brandon and Melanie Rodgers, Stephanie and James Rishel, Justin, Trent, Kaylie and Cora Sheppard, Angel, Tiffany and Christopher Clark, Gabrielle and Braeden Starboard and Lacey O'Sullivan; and seven great-grandchildren, Zachary, Laney, Summer, Kayden, Karleigh, Khloe, Jake and Lillie. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles "Chuck" Sheppard. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Twiford Memorial Chapel with the Rev. F. Joe Griffith officiating. Burial will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Twiford Funeral Home, Memorial Chapel, 405 E. Church St., Elizabeth City, NC is assisting the Sheppard family. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.twifordfh.com.
