Terry Gurganus Obituary
ELIZABETH CITY - Terry Gurganus, age 75, of Elizabeth City, NC, died at Sentara Albemarle Medical Center on August 10, 2024. Born on June 12, 1949, in Suffolk, VA, Terry was the beloved son of the late Noah Henry Gurganus and Nettie Harris Gurganus.
Terry dedicated his life to serving his country and community. He proudly served as a Master Sergeant in the Army during the Vietnam era. Following his military service, he continued his dedication to public service as a Master Sergeant with the Elizabeth City Police Department, where he retired after twenty-eight years of exemplary service.
An avid hunter and fisherman and a member of the 4-Mile Desert Hunting Club, Terry was well-known for his exceptional dog training skills. He also loved playing golf. His passions and hobbies brought him immense joy.
Terry is survived by his longtime partner, Sarah Blanchard; his three daughters, Jennifer Parker (Rodney), Wendy Sue Richards (Sean), and Penny Hurdle (Jamey); and his six grandchildren, Cayman Parker, Faith Richards, Grayson Boyce, Kenison Parker, Jackson Richards, and Madison Boyce. His legacy of love, strength, and kindness will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
A memorial service to honor Terry's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 16, 2024, at Twiford Memorial Chapel, 405 E. Church Street, Elizabeth City, NC, with the Rev. Dr. F. Joe Griffith officiating. The family will receive friends and relatives immediately following the service in the funeral home lobby.

Terry's steadfast commitment to his family, community, and passions will be remembered and cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in eternal peace.

I lived across the street on Tuscarora Avenue ,and have many memories of Terry. Grew up together, played tag and many happy days. So sorry for the family´s loss.
