BURKETTSVILLE —Betty Darland, age 91, of Burkettsville, died March 14, 2018, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima, Ohio.
Betty was born December 13, 1926, in Minster, Ohio, to the late Frank and Lena (Moorman) Hierholzer. On October 13, 1951, she married the late William Darland, who died February 17, 1974.
Surviving are three children: Dean (Nancy) Darland of Lakeland, Florida; Neil (Pam) Darland of Burkettsville; and Jessie (Deanne) Darland of Burkettsville; 9 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Rosella Moorman of St. Henry, Ohio, and Dorothy Hierholzer of Sidney, Ohio; in-laws: Dora Jane Waymire of New Madison, Ohio; Susie Applegate of Urbana; Karen Darland of Zephyrhills, Florida; and Bill Troutwine of Mechanicsburg, Ohio.
Deceased are siblings, Walter Hierholzer, Danny Hierholzer and Virginia (Paul) Olding.
Betty enjoyed gardening and was an avid bingo player. She was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, Burkettsville.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 17, at St. Bernard Catholic Church, Burkettsville, with Fr. William O'Donnell officiating. Burial will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery. Calling is 2 to 8 p.m. Friday and 9 to 9:45 a.m. Saturday at Brockman-Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery, Ohio.
