Gudrun Newbauer, 82, died on Sunday, October 29, 2023.She was survived by her husband of 48 years, Thomas Newbauer, her 5 children, 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Gudrun was a courageous and tenacious woman. At age 70, she conquered her lifelong fear of water and learned to swim. Afterward, she became a card-carrying member of the YMCA and swam with new friends every week. Gudrun and Tom met while out dancing, and have been dancing together in life ever since. Friends and family all recall Gudrun and Tom's magical dance steps and would often clear the floor to watch in admiration - especially when it was a rousing polka!
Her blended family fondly recalls enjoying snowy months when they would all pile-on a sled and careen down a hill with dogs racing along beside. Gudrun was also a bit of a prankster and fibber... just ask her grandchildren, nieces and nephews about the "Honeysuckle" bears that lived in the woods behind her home. And you can't help but giggle if you were to see her 3 weeks ago wearing a pumpkin on her head!
Gudrun was proud, resilient, and lived life with conviction. She loved crafting flower and table arrangements, and faithfully believed in angels. Gudrun's angels will certainly now have their hands full! She was very loved and will be deeply missed. Wir lieben dich und vermissen dich, Gudrun.
No services will be held. Friends and family are welcome to stop by to share in condolence. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the American Cancer Society or The Parkinson's Foundation.
