NEW MADISON — Janet Elizabeth Baker, 82, of New Madison, Ohio, passed away Saturday, April 24, 2021, at the Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville, Ohio.
She was born November 13, 1938, in New Madison, to the late Charles "Babe" and Helen (Crawford) Cox.
In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her siblings, Linda Rude, and Robert Cox; sons-in-law, Ted Squillante, and Brian Delk.
Janet is survived by her husband of 63 years, Kenneth Baker, whom she married October 3, 1957; her children, Terri Mikesell and her husband, Bruce, of New Madison, Cindi Delk of Troy, Ohio, Lori Lucas and her husband, Dan, of Eaton, Ohio, and Lyle Baker and his wife, Lyn, of Greenville; her grandchildren, Emily (Nathan) Hans, Whitney (David) Unkraut, Natalie (Vincent) Springer, Hallie (Badou) Diagne, Beth (Seth) Simmons, Chelsea (Tom) Foos, Derek (Samantha) Lucas, and Matthew Baker; and 11 great grandchildren; as well as many other extended family members.
Janet was a 1957 graduate of New Madison High School. She will be remembered as the cornerstone of her family. Not a day would go by where she didn't stay connected with her loved ones. Her love extended beyond her immediate family as she cared for many children, in her home, for over 40 years. She loved her community and served it in a variety of capacities. She was an active member of the Eta Pi Kappa Sorority in New Madison, the New Madison Christmas Light Committee, and the Tri-Village Community Calendar Committee. Janet was a member of the First Universalist Church in New Madison where, over the years, she served on various committees including the Church Board.
A Celebration of Janet's life will be held Friday, April 30, 2021, 11 a.m., at Tribute Funeral Homes, Greenville campus, with Pastor Derek Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Greenmound Cemetery in New Madison.
Janet's family will be receiving guests Thursday, April 29, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be given in Janet's memory to the New Madison Christmas Lights, 406 S. Main Street, New Madison, Ohio 45346; or the Diabetes Association of Dayton, 2555 S. Dixie Drive, Unit 112, Dayton, Ohio 45409.

Janet always had a smile on her face, I loved to hear her laugh. She loved her family SO much.
